About the diary works

I am fascinated by all the possible different techniques in embroidery, by the effects of certain color combinations, and by the effects on the human spirit while performing manual crafts. Embroidery has a rich history as a communication tool and I explore how embroidery work can be used in these times to create a certain effect. To not use it only as a decorative element but to use it to express more than just beauty. I can't say where this intention will end up, but I am certain that it can grow into a body of work that leads to something. My Diary Works are the pieces I work on through this research.

August 2023

A small wall piece embroidered with burgundy and grey cotton and gold & silver threads with ocean blue sequins and burgundy beads. Made while travelling in Mexico City and Oaxaca. Inspired by the colors and shapes of the architect Luis Barragàn. These framed wallpieces are more like a visual diary of what happens around us, and how It can be translated into my visual language. At the heart of this embroidery piece one finds a vegetal landscape growing among the ruins, paving its way through the cracks of a crisis.

Recurrent themes in my work are feminism and ecology, with references to feminine playfulness and healing plants and flowers.
